I am a DONA International trained doula, who is very passionate about mothers, birth and babies! I am a mother of 4. I have been through labor and delivery four times, and my birth experiences are really what motivated me to become a doula. My first birth was in a hospital with an epidural. My second birth was in the car on the way to the hospital! My third birth was a planned home birth. My fourth birth was a peaceful home birth, supported by my family.
These experiences prompted me to learn more about what is working in our current maternity model and what isn’t. I soon began researching about the benefits of having a doula present at your birth. I realized that I couldn’t change all that is wrong with our birth culture, but I could be the missing piece that could help make birth more empowering and positive. I believe that having continuous female support throughout your labor and delivery is that missing piece. Every kind of woman and every kind of birth deserves a doula!
